Technical Information
Video
The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ is not restricted by the dimensions of any incoming media nor the frame rate of any incoming media.
In addition to all of the video standards including NTSC, PAL, and all HD formats, the Media Frame Engineâ„¢ can play and convert non-standard formats to standard video formats in real-time.
The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ can deal with interlaced video, any field order, and progressive formats and real-time convert them to the specifications of the I/O hardware. It also natively deals with anamorphic video, pillars, letterbox, and center cut cropping in real-time.
All conversions apply to the RGB and alpha channels of the source media and are carried all the way through the system to output. Alpha channels are sent to the hardware and output if the card supports dual-link output.
I/O
The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ is completely hardware I/O independent. Supported currently includes AJA, BlueFish444 and Deltacast.
Media
The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ currently supports Quicktime, Windows Media, and most major still image formats. Currently the Media Frame Engineâ„¢ is limited by the installed Quicktime codecs on the machine, however development is underway to add native support for codecs not currently supported on the Windows platform by Quicktime. As development progresses there are plans to support MXF and other media formats.
The key here is that support means the native ability to read the native files. NO TRANSCODING ever takes place in a Media Frame system. Files are read in their original format in real-time and manipulated in real-time.
Database
The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ uses the industry standard SQL Server for data management and gives users and developers easy access to standard Media Frame information as well as highly customizable meta data.
Audio
The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ supports all incoming sample rates, bit depths, and little or big endian and then realtime converts it to the standard used by the specified I/O.

The Media Frame Engineâ„¢ also supports up to 16 channels of discreet or embedded output on the specified I/O and can route incoming discreet audio channels to any of the 16 output channels in real-time. In addition to the internal router there is an internal mixer for all 16 output channels that can be automated in real-time.
